Ayman Bejjani is a rising junior at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in music (violin performance with Dr. Nicholas DiEugenio) and minoring in chemistry. Ayman's favorite musical activity is playing chamber music--he loves the challenges and the joy of collaborative music making. Ayman is considering future paths in music production and the medical field. His favorite interior wall color is blue gray.

Jessica Caviness is from Charlotte, North Carolina and has been playing since she was three years old. She studied under Nora Smilovici for fifteen years and now holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she studied with Dr. Fabián López. Jessica is currently pursuing a Master of Music Degree at the University of Wyoming, where she studies with Dr. John Fadial and plays as concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra, and as a member of the Ostara Quartet. Besides performing on the violin, Jessica also enjoys riding horses, writing stories, and composing original music.

Leon Copeland enjoys reading, rock climbing (or watching rock climbing videos), cleaning, cooking, running and (obviously) all things violin.
Rainy days filled with tidying and productivity are my favorite days. Coast or mountains? Depends on the week! Chloe Johnson (she/her/hers) is a 26 year old violinist from St. Louis, Missouri, currently studying with Dr. Shannon Thomas at Florida State University. From the age of 8, Chloe realized that music was her passion and has been playing violin ever since. In her spare time, Chloe enjoys creating music with a looping pedal and other equipment. Chloe’s favorite gender is female.

Laia Ferrer Vila is from Vallirana, a mountain village near Barcelona. Her parents are musicians too so she has always known that she wanted to become a musician too (and that's what I’m trying to). She studied the Superior/Bachelor 4 years at the Barcelona’s Conservatori Superior del Liceu with Corrado Bolsi and Ludmila Railean. "My favorite color is orange, I love the broom’s flowers for its good smelling and how wildly it paints the landscape, it is so typical of where I live. I also love the feeling of stepping on the beach sand. I don't have a favorite beer, they are all (more or less) good to share good times, so I will toast as if we were getting to meet in person!!" Maxwell van Hoeij is a rising senior at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Florida and is a student of Dr. Shannon Thomas, Professor of Violin, at Florida State University for six years. He has been with the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra for seven years and has held concertmaster role for five of those years. At the age of 15 and 16, Maxwell was accepted to the Aspen Music Festival.

Sarah Kissinger is pursuing her PAC after receiving her Masters degree in violin performance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the tutelage of Professor Kevin Lawrence. She has attended festivals including the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival and performed in master classes with Osmo Vänskä, Philip Setzer, Paul Watkins, Chad Hoopes and Harumi Rhodes. Passionate about sharing her love of music, Sarah is an ArtsEngage member of UNCSA’s ArtistCorps, an organization dedicated to providing arts education to underserved communities. Laurel Meitrodt is a freshman at UNCG as a music education major. She has been playing violin for about 8 years now and hopes to teach middle or high school one day. Her favorite passing time is either reading or working on making her bullet journal pretty! Frances Norton is a senior at Carrboro High School in Chapel Hill. In the Fall, she will go to UNC as a Kenan Scholar to study violin and computer science. She has attended festivals like Kinhaven and Tanglewood BUTI. She loves tea, chamber music, the public library, and spending time with her cousins. Siana Wong is from Greensboro, North Carolina and is a senior graduating from Weaver Academy. She started taking violin lessons at the age of six under the instruction of Eve Hubbard. Siana is excited to continue her education at Carolina, majoring in violin performance and biology. |
Ruth Kelley attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts all through high school and will be returning for college in the fall. This past summer she participated in the National Youth Orchestra USA, performing at Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood, and on a European tour to the Netherlands, Germany, and Great Britain, supported by a complete scholarship from Carnegie Hall's Weill Foundation. Ruth is a proud alumna of Sphinx Performance Academy. Outside of her violin studies, Ruth is a dedicated yogi and is currently training to become a certified yoga instructor. Susie Lee is finishing up her senior year at North Farmington High School and is headed to the Univeristy of Michigan this fall. She has played violin since she was five and is excited to continue violin in college. Susie has participated in various youth orchestras and has formed one for with her church friends. She loves ice skating and the color purple.
Enshi Li attended Yanbian University from 2014-18, where she majored in Music Performance. She now studies at the UNCG School of Music with Professor Fabian Lopez, where she is pursuing her MM in Violin Performance. Lydia Panton is an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Violin Performance under Soh-Hyun Altino. She studies chamber music under Parry Karp of the Pro Arte Quartet and has performed on baroque violin with UW-Madison’s Early Music Ensemble. Outside of her studies, Lydia enjoys working as an Academic Advisor for first-year students at UW-Madison. Amelia Posner-Hess is from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and she studies with Dr. Fabian Lopez at UNCG. Amelia is a sophomore in high school at Carolina Friends School, and she has been playing violin for 11 years. Outside of violin, Amelia enjoys reading and hiking, and is passionate about social justice. |
Michele Zimmerman recently graduated from UNC School of the Arts, where she studied violin with Kevin Lawrence. While at UNCSA, she participated in performances with ensembles including the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra, the UNCSA Jazz Ensemble, and the Chrysalis Chamber Music Institute. In her free time, Michele likes riding her bike and doing origami. |
